PennHIP is the most accurate Canine Hip Dysplasia (or CHD) screening method available and can be safely performed on dogs as young as 16 weeks of age. An early estimate of a dog’s hip integrity is invaluable, whether your dog is intended for breeding, for working, or as a family pet.
CHD can lead to hip arthritis causing pain, stiffness, and diminished quality of life for your dog. It has no medical or surgical cure, and afflicts more than 50% of the dogs within some breeds!
Dr. Barrett is a Credited PennHIP Veterinarian!
If your dog is identified to be at risk for CHD, we can recommend at an early age the appropriate strategies (diet, medication, and/or activities) to delay or diminish the ultimate course of the disease.
We are proud to offer both PennHIP and OFA testing so that you have access to the best diagnostic tools available. To learn more about PennHIP or OFA testing, please contact today!
